SIAP+MICROS featured in TG1 Special Report “Il restauro del mare”
In the TG1 Special “Il restauro del mare” (Restoring the Sea), aired on Rai 1 on July 13 and presented by journalist Patrizia Angelini, SIAP+MICROS was among the protagonists of an immersive journey into the heart of the largest marine ecosystem restoration project ever undertaken in Italy, funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
At the center of the report, which explored environmental protection initiatives throughout the peninsula, SIAP+MICROS’ commitment was highlighted in the context of the creation of the ISPRA National Wave Network (Rete Ondametrica Nazionale), a technologically advanced infrastructure for real-time monitoring of the wave behavior that characterizes our seas.
Starting at minute 48:00 of the special, TG1 cameras document the launch in Palermo of one of the wave and current buoys designed and built by SIAP+MICROS for the RON (National Wave Network) network. Engineer Alex Stevanin, CEO of the company, explains their functionality and objectives, emphasizing how these instruments are now one of the cornerstones of the national strategy for marine weather monitoring and the protection of our coasts and seabeds.

The buoys, equipped with cutting-edge sensors, are capable of measuring wave height, period, and direction, sea currents, and meteorological parameters, contributing to better coastal area management, navigation safety, and research progress. This entirely Italian technological know-how integrates perfectly with European strategies on biodiversity and the protection of underwater ecosystems.
The TG1 Special also covered other important national projects: from operations to recover ‘ghost nets’ in Lazio, to mapping submerged mountains discovered thanks to coastal radar, as well as awareness campaigns in Sicily and the ‘Sentinelle del mare’ (Sea Watchers) initiatives in Veneto and Tuscany.
A journey that is well worth watching and confirms the central role of SIAP+MICROS in our country’s ecological transition, at the service of science and the environment.
