The Autonomous Province of Trento chooses SIAP+MICROS to strengthen Civil Protection’s strategic monitoring network

SIAP+MICROS has signed a new public procurement contract with the Autonomous Province of Trento to strengthen and upgrade the Province’s strategic Civil Protection network. The project includes the complete renewal of the existing hydrometric and meteorological stations, the supply and installation of new measurement points across the minor hydrographic network, and the monitoring of groundwater levels and drainage ditches.

The current system is the result of progressive integrations carried out over time: a technological layering that is extensive in terms of territorial coverage, yet uneven in terms of data quality and acquisition methods. In particular, some components of the system have been in operation for more than twenty years, rely on outdated communication protocols, lack unified information management and, in some cases, still require manual data reading.

The project therefore focuses on three main pillars: the modernisation of the entire hydrometric network, including through flow measurement systems based on video analysis and AI-powered computer vision models; a new software infrastructure for data management and validation; and the upgrade of all dataloggers.

Within this new network architecture, SIAP+MICROS introduces an additional level of technical value. In particular, the project stands out for the accuracy of critical environmental parameter measurements; for the quality of the engineering solutions adopted, starting from the choice of materials; and for its concrete focus on the safety of field operators.

Moreover, the adoption of open and interoperable technologies has also played a central role. Always compliant with international standards, the solutions developed by SIAP+MICROS enable integration with future systems, definitively moving beyond technological lock-in and ensuring full freedom of development over time.

Together, these choices enabled SIAP+MICROS’ proposal to achieve the highest technical and economic scores. This result once again demonstrates how SIAP+MICROS’ design sensitivity is a true vocation. Because when it comes to risk prevention and management, measurement quality is only one part of the challenge. The other is equipping field operators with appropriate tools, carefully tailored to specific needs.
